a late breaking Dark Star Productions update... This is the new company work truck, a 1977 Chevrolet Step Van 10. Fitted with a 292 cubic inch inline-six and three-speed automatic transmission, power disc brakes. It has a rear door opening large enough for the largest of my gear carts to fit inside, and the interior is high enough to stand upright inside yet short enough for the van to pass through most drive-through and parking garage openings. The truck has already paid off. on Saturday and Sunday, September 3 and 4, I used the tru ck to carry my gear to the Americana Fest at Wacky Hut on Merritt Island, a benefit being held for Dave Grooms. An estimated $9500 dollars was raised to help him pay for his skin cancer treatments and this included some 75 dollars from raw footage of the event being auctioned off. The truck needs small amounts of body work and engine work but nothing on the scale required by the Dodge I bought earlier. I did put a radiator in out of spite and age, an oil change, fan belt, and replaced the worn fuse panel and its wiring as well as a number of worn out lamps, lamp sockets, and thier lenses. All the lights are funtional as is the seat belt that for some reason the US Navy decided to pay Chevrolet not to install in this truck when it was delivered in March, 1977, acording to the 'nomenclature' plate still attached inside. Other than that.. all is well. A slow return to the video business has begun. This truck will make an *excellent* rolling video platform.... | | Monday, July 18th, 2005 | | 10:33 pm |

Burley. (Or as AnarCHY would say, "wish it were better news, bro"...)
A friend I met in 1989 at the Pines Theatre & Drafthouse in Cocoa got me hooked into Rocky Horror Picture show as I had a rather large car and usually played not only light tech for the Creatures Of the Night (Cocoa, Florida) cast. I also was the cast's 'freighter pilot', so called for the Han Solo-looking outfit I once could wear and for the Millenium Falcon-sized 1973 Cadillac Fleetwood Formal Sedan that I would taxi around at least some six of the cast members on a regular basis. His name was Dave Clark, and he played the role of Riff Raff. I lost touch with him in 1993 after he left to attend college in Georgia. The majority of us knew him as 'Burley', a handle (as we called screennames back in the day) from the 10-line chat BBS we all were a part of. Dave was an inspiration to me. I worked hard on lights to keep our shows at the Pines lit bright and cue'd on time. Further the more I was also inspired that the role of Riff Raff would be the one I enjoyed most. Two years ago and last year I had the opportunity to play Riff Raff for Surfside Playhouse's production of Rocky Horror Picture Show for their yearly fundraiser to pay for roof and building repairs. During each of those shows I thought of Dave, wondering where he was and how I would reach him. And as of late I thought the same thing. Dave was tip-top when it came to the role and I was proud to be inspired by him back in the day. I had hoped to bring him to a show either at Surfside, in Orlando with the Rich Weirdoes or both. This will not happen in person, only in spirit. I just got word today that he lost his battle with Cystic Fibrosis not long ago. With all finesse aside, this sucks, plain and simple.Plain, and Simple. Sometime this year I will once again rehearse for and play the part of Riff Raff, this time it will be deliberately for Dave. Forgetting no one...
I woke up an hour ago from having crash-landed just after midnight. The final week of the year which passed was in itself seemingly far longer than the whole of the year with perhaps the exception of the days spend as a rolling refugee. I am sitting down to my first meal of the new year and upon my stove are lit several candles. One to light the way in the new year for myself and my friends, and one to remember those who are gone and now taking their trip into forever. The year is going to be good for everyone; this much I am hoping for, for all of you. *** The guns in the neighborhood are silent. I guess it's safe to venture outside. :) | | Friday, October 15th, 2004 | | 8:06 pm |
Since 7pm I have had this vanilla candle burning in an old can which used to have pineapple in it. I lit the candle for my friend's daughter. This seemed like a good reason to do so. The candles have burned very brightly tonight... Current Music: "Sugar Magnolia" - the Grateful Dead, 1971 | | Thursday, October 14th, 2004 | | 6:45 pm |
Candles to honor loss of very young (reprinted from Florida Today newspaper, Melbourne Florida)For Jocelyn, Nick, and Michelle. October is widely recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. What many people don't know is that it's also Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, as proclaimed by the late President Ronald Reagan in 1988.
Each year in the United States, more than six of every 1,000 births results in a stillbirth or newborn death, and many more babies are lost to miscarriage before the 20th week of pregnancy.
The grief that the bereaved parents experience following these losses is profound, yet is often misunderstood and discounted by those who have not been there.
Friday has been recognized in Florida and many other states as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. At 7 p.m., thousands of people across the country will light a candle to remember these lost, but never forgotten children.
I will be joining them. My daughter, Michelle, was born on August 25 at only 24 weeks gestation, and died on September 1.
To honor her memory, I hope to help other bereaved families find the support and comfort they need, and to help the outside world understand why this is so important.

These two aliens land on a hill. They get out of the ufo and wander down the hill when they find a gas station. It's dark out with just a few lights as the station is closed. The big alien looks at the little alien and says to him "I'll go up to that one there and have him take us to his leader". And so it is the two aliens walk up to this gas pump, with it's three digital "0.00" eyes where the big alien calls out "Take us to your leader." Of course, the gas pump says nothing. The little alien is not well with this. "I don't think you should mess with him because he's a bad motherfucker" "Aw come on. You're just afraid of everything. I'm going to tell him to take us to his leader or I'll vaporize him." "I don't think that is a good idea." The demands continue. "Take us to your leader or I will vaporize you." Only the creaking of a sign waving in the breeze is heard. The big alien pulls his Vaporgasmatron 9000 and proceeds to waste the gas pump. The pump explodes, the station goes up in flames and all hell breaks loose. The big alien looks to the little alien and asks "And how did you know this was a bad dude?" The little alien says to him "when you can wrap your dick around your waist twice and park the end of it behind your ear, you're bound to be one bad motherfucker". Jerry Daze 2003. 5th Annual Tribute to Jerry Garcia. Cocoa Beach Fla, July 5

JerryDaze 2003 5th Annual Tribute to Jerry Garcia with Dave and The DEADbeats, and The Terrapin StationWagon Liquid Light Show. This link takes you to my page from Jerry Daze 2002; the information on location and such is mostly unchanged
Some additional information about this may be found by going to the old KoolBeanz Coffeehouse website or by emailing this half of the brains behind the whole Jerry Daze experience. Genreally, this has been a one or two day, sometimes three day, music fest paying tribute to both the acoustic and electric music of Jerry Garcia, playing solo, with "one-stop world tour" bands, and with the Grateful Dead. Unofficially speaking, the lineup this year looks to be a first few hours, possibly three or four, of acoustic music, four to six hours of electric music with possibly impromptu drum jamming, and the remaining hours in an all-out electric jam lasting until Comfort Inn kicks everyone out or beer curfew, whichever gets enforced last. :) There's a map on the Dark Star's Jerry Daze 2002 page but if you need details you can always do the MaqQuest thing, or just email Java John at KoolBeanz and he'll tell you how to get here. Sidenote: I have CD copies of the Donna The Buffalo from April 30th show in Titusville Florida available. | | Tuesday, June 10th, 2003 | | 11:17 pm |
Beginning and end. Newlyweds. A young couple were married, and celebrated their first night together, doing what newlyweds do, time and time again, all night long. Morning comes and the groom goes into the bathroom but finds no towel when he emerges from the shower. He asks the bride to please bring one from the bedroom. When she gets to the bathroom door, he opened the door, exposing his body for the first time to his bride where she sees all of him well. Her eyes went up and down and at about midway, they stopped and stared, and she asked shyly, "What's that?", pointing to a small part of his anatomy. He, also being shy, thought for a minute and then said, "Well, that's what we had so much fun with last night." And she, in amazement, asked, "Is that all we have left?" Tonight, I start VHS and audio CD rendering of the Donna The Buffalo concert held at Maxi's Family Cinema back in April. Dark Star Productions will be dusting off the Valiant Advertising Division to loan support for an upcoming show. Details to follow.
